How to Downgrade iPhone 4.0 to OS 3.1.3
Soon after iPhone 4.0 firmware was released to developers it also became available for other users via torrents and other file sharing websites, so if you have upgraded to the new iPhone OS 4.0, requires you to register your Unique Device ID ( UDID) which can only be registered by members of Apple Developer Program, however we provided an alternate way yesterday.
Now if you guys aren’t happy with iPhone 4.0 considering its a beta version then you can roll back to iPhone OS 3.1.3, follow this tutorial to downgrade from OS 4.0 on Windows
Pre-Requirements
- Original Firmware OS 3.1.3 for restoring
- iTunes 9.1
- iRecovery 1.3 + LibUSB – download link
Step by Step Downgrading from OS 4.0 to OS 3.1.3
- Download and extract iRecovery to the desktop
- Install Libusb to the desktop filename : libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.12.1.exe
- Connect your iPhone via USB and enter in DFU mode by holding down power and home button simultaneously for 10 seconds
- Manually load iPhone OS 3.1.3 firmware file by doing Shift + Restore and selecting the file
- During the recovery iTunes will show error, ignore it
- Close iTunes and run the following commands in console
cd Desktop
iRecovery.exe-s
setenv atuo-boot true
saveenv
fsboot
exit
- Last step : Disconnect from computer and restart your iPhone normally
