iPhone 4 Unlock is Just Around The Corner [Official]
Since, Geohot has retired himself from the jailbreaks and unlocks scenario, we are left with few options to look forward to,and iPhone Dev Team is one such option. MuscleNerd, iPhone Dev Team member, has recently tweeted that unlock for iPhone 4 is in its closing stages now, and we can soon see the release of iPhone 4 unlock.
Here are the official words from MuscleNerd:

It means the “next step” demoed in http://is.gd/doLnz has been reached, so now there’s just 1 final step
Next step is to keep the task backgrounded like we did for 3G/3GS http://is.gd/dh7Jh. Backgrounded task is the unlock.
It is also expected that Spirit jailbreak for iOS 4 will also be released sometime near iPhone 4 unlock.
Note: Do not update the upcoming firmware update from Apple, if you want to jailbreak and unlock your iPhone 4.
