Guide to Downgrade iPhone/iPod Touch From iOS 4.0.2 to iOS 4.0.1 Without SHSH Blobs
Many of you must have upgraded your iPhone/iPod Touch to iOS 4.0.2, thinking that iPhone Dev Team will soon release a jailbreak for this firmware. But, since iPhone Dev Team has made it clear that they won’t be releasing a jailbreak for iOS 4.0.2, so you have no other option but downgrading back to iOS 4.0.1. However, if you doesn’t have your previous SHSH blobs saved on Saurik’s server, then it becomes impossible to downgrade.

Fortunately, now there is a way to downgrade your iPhone /iPod Touch from iOS 4.0.2 to iOS 4.0.1, even without SHSH blobs:
- Download and extract iOS 4.0.1 ipsw file (rename file to .zip, if necessary).
- Open buildmanifest.plist and restore.plist with Notepad/TextWrangler, and replace all 8A306 with 8A400.
- Save both the files.
- Download and open iOS 4.0.2 ipsw file in WinZip or Winrar (Caution: do not extract the file).
- Copy all files from iOS 4.0.1 ipsw to iOS 4.0.2 ipsw archive.
- Delete all .dmg files with 002 at the end.
- Save the archive with .ipsw as extension.
- Put iPhone/iPod Touch in DFU mode.
- Open iTunes and restore the changed firmware.
Note: The above process works only for downgrading from iOS 4.0.2 to iOS 4.0.1.
