iPhone 3GS 3.1 Jailbreak Update
Well, lets make it simple, if you are thinking of upgrading your iPhone 3GS firmware to the latest OS 3.1 then I suggest you to not even think of upgrading at the moment because Apple has already made it hard with iPhone 3GS by introducing ECID. Now if you upgrade and jailbreak didn’t become available then you can’t even downgrade your iPhone to 3.0 or to 3.0.1. Some of the jailbreak users those might have back up of their ECID can only be able downgrade from 3.1 to 3.0 that too when Saurik releases his guide.
iPhone 3.1 Jailbreak – Points to note:
- Do not upgrade to iTunes 9
- Do not upgrade your iPhone firmware to 3.1
- Current Redsn0w jailbreak software for iPhone do not work with firmware 3.1
- If you have upgraded to firmware 3.1, you cannot downgrade as Apple has stopped signing older firmwares, so you are out of luck now.
- Apple is making Jailbreaking more and more difficult
- Wait patiently for Dev Team announcement, its not easy this time.

Well, you are wrong saying that we can’t upgrade to iTunes 9. It’s ok if you have an already jailbroken device…just thought you might wanna change that
The first person is an idiot, holding shift in iTunes and selecting a restore file older then 3.1.1 returns an error code 20, or so it does for me, it’s because there is also an update to another part of the device that can’t be downgraded. Stupid trolls trying to get hopes up, only to have people bugger their device.

You know what? I held down shift and clicked restore and it worked to downgrade to 3.0 Firmware. So I don’t know, maybe my 9.0 vs of iTunes has a tiny error in it?

hold shift and restore in itunes, you can then choose an older firmware to downgrade to, it works.
