iTunes Alternative for iPhone/iPod Touch: iPhone PC Suite
If you are not happy with iTunes and want a simple alternative to iTunes then you can try iPhone PC Suite, its a file manager for iPhone/iPod Touch for Windows, you can use it transfer music files, backup and restore SMS, ringtones, contacts etc , if you use it with iPhone you can also send SMS from it.
iPhone PC Suite works with jailbreaked iPhone/iPod Touch only and you must have Microsoft .NET framework installed. The current latest version of iPhone PC Suite is 2.8.0.118.

this is quite a nice alternative to itunes although it can get a bit messy getting caught up in all this jailbroken stuff

I absolutely refuse to install it on my computers. My ipod will sit and marinate until I am able to find a way around it. Which I am sure is out there, as the underground will always be a step ahead.
