iPod Touch 4G Coming with Camera: Rumor

It would be nice if Apple let you send your 3G Touch in and they would replace the back and add the missing CCD (only part missing supposedly) for a small fee.

Too little too late… I had the first two, sad the camera wasn’t on the last one, won’t go to AT&T, so I found the Hero! It’s soooo sweet!!

Well that sucks and to think I just bought the iPod Touch 3G it will be intresting to see though, has it been released yet?

its never going to be a 4g. They says 3g will be the final version!

i just bought the 8g 3rd generation ipod touch and it has no camera. the 4g only came out as a iphone not as a ipod touch.

if you want a camera in a ipod, get the nano.

The ipod touch 4th generation is supposded to have a camera on it finaly but i think u can send ur 3 gen back to apple and they will put it in or you.

this totally sucks if the ipod touch 4th gen has a camera i will be so mad i just got the ipod touch 3rd gen for christmas apple better let ya change the back so you can have a camera or they will be hearing from me becuz i’m not gonna see another $200 or $300 go to waste for a brand new ipod touch that would just be down right stupid to buy another one just so i can have a camera on it

The 3G isn’t much better than the 2G. My friend has the 32GB 2G, and I had the 32GB 3G (until I lost it). Basically worked the exact same, no change, just the Blue-Tooth, which means the 2G had the antenna, just not the firmware upgrade. The 1G is slower, but not too huge of a difference. Speaker and Blue-Tooth are the big differences.

They would never have you send it in and upgrade you to a camera. Most companies charge $60-100 per hour for electronic work. They wouldn’t bother doing that. If anything, a 3rd party company would sell a back with a camera and let you upgrade your own. It would be just like the old Nanos, you have to buy a new one. They don’t fix your old Nano with a camera, or give your 1G Touch a built-in speaker. You can just spend more money.

The iPad is ridiculous. It’s a big iPod Touch. I still would like to see a screen like the iPad you can dock your iTouch inside and just have a bigger screen for the times you need it. If it was like a laptop where you can run multiple programs, or at least have a USB or additional storage for your “unprotected” media like pictures, I could see it being a great add-on, but just the iPad is bulky and takes away the portability that I get with the Touch.

I would like a photo camera, media storage, or more accessories that can attach for more use.

Products update rapidly and any time you buy any electronics, you take a risk that something better may come out a month later. You apparently thought the Touch was a useful tool without a camera or you wouldn’t have bought it. Don’t blame Apple for making progress. They don’t you an upgrade.

I meant to say they don’t owe you an upgrade. I’d be thrilled to have everything updated when something new comes out, but it’s not a realistic expectation.

They made the iPad with 3g and the iphone 3g so they should put out an itouch with 3g and a camera. I don’t think that should be too hard. And since 4.0 is coming out soon, now would be the best time. I have 2nd gen itouch, i would have bought the 3rd if it had a camera, but I didn’t think it was too different from the 2nd gen. But that would be coool

For people who are saying there is no difference between the
ipod touch 2g and the ipod touch 3g.
the ipod touch 3g has the same hardware as the iphone 3gs.
that means 50% faster than iphone 3g and ipod touch 2g.
because of its faster hardware the ipod touch 3g will get all
of the iphone 4.0 upgrade the coming summer.
ipod touch 2g and iphone 3g will not get multitasking because slower hardware.

I heard a the 4th Generation iPod touch will be coming out in September 12!!!
It is going to have a LED Screen, fingerprint resistant, 512 MB of RAM, 3.2 Megapixel camera and mic, 2 times faster than the iPod Touch 3rd Generation and it will be coming with the iPhone OS 4.1!!!!!!

is the 4g coming out in june or semtember! i am pretty sure it is coming out in june but just to make sure because i want to get 4g but not if i have to wait that long.(I am 12 years old so don’t cus at me)

I think that the iPod touch 4g is going to come out in september. It will have a camera but the 3G network is not going to happen. If you were to give an Ipod touch with a camera, a mic, and 3G networking, you would basically be getting an iPhone for a cheaper price. Apple is smart. They don’t want to lose money (who does?) and releasing a cheaper iPhone would canibalize real iPhone sales.

Anyways, the touch 4g will come out in september becauase Apple is wanting to release the iPhone 4g (or iPhone HD, whatever they choose to call it) fist. They want to have consumers (that’s us) buy their latest and greatest product first for a lot of money and then they sell a cheaper product that is a little worse for practically the same amount. Like i said before, Apple is smart.

I myself think that the ipod touch needs a camera for two resons, if you want a pic on your ipod, you have to conect to itunes or send yourself an email w/ the pic; or if you have one of those perfect moments (your stepdad sleeping with another woman for instance>)

Uh, duh? of course it will happen. an ipod touch 4g is a guarantee, apple brings out updates of their ipod line and iphone every year. whether it has camera or not remains to be seen

Well i’m returning my ipod 2g, it was suppose to be 3G. But yah.
If the ipod touch 4G doesn’t come out in June i’m going to use that money to make a MID.

i hope one never comes out buecase then i have to pay 5 dollars to upgrade my software to 4.0 to play the latest games and i just payed 5 dollars so mine could play freaking chinatown wars

Actually to the reviwer above me the initial price for the 4.0 update will be 10$ as always the 5$ update you purchased was for a much later release of 3.1. Apple is not known for price drops as their site prices haven’t changed. Also expect the iPod touch September 8th. Just as last year apple is doing the buy a MacBook get a free iPod touch at the bottom of the page it says this deal lasts from May 25-September 7th. Last year after this similar deal expired the iPod touch 3g was announced the next day.

Well its all a bit clearer now the iPhone 4 is released, I believe it will have an HD camera with FaceTime capabilities (it may be thicker if we want these features) like the iPhone. An external microphone would be nice too and iMovie for iPod is a good idea.

Other than that it will probably be the same as 3g except for iOS4. By the way, the idea of sending in your 3g and getting a camera is ludicrous, its never going to happen.

I’m probably just going to keep my ipod touch 3g and get the 5 if it ever comes out. It doesn’t seem like they’d be adding very much (even if they have the camera) plus, i can just upgrade to OS 4.0 when it comes time. But who knows, if there are enough new features, i’d consider getting the 4g.

The iPhone 4 is out on the 24th June and the software for it is out three days earlier on the 20th June. There are indeed rumours of the new iPod Touch having a good camera (but it could become a video camera like the iPod Nano. The new software is free for all but 1G and iPhone 2G users who cannot get it (iPod Touch 2G and iPhone 3G users will get limited features) iPod Touch 3G and iPhone 3GS users will get all of the features. I would recommend waiting for new versions to come out rather than getting versions available right now (you can get better devices in future as the world is developing)

for a free update, on the release date of course. but it is likely there will be an iPod touch 4th Gen. and it will probably have a camera, maybe even 2 for face time

When the iPod Touch 5G comes out you going to be like “they better let me send in my 4G and replace it with a 5G”. Seriously, you chose to buy it, theres always going to be a new revision, face it. You want the latest, you have to buy it everytime a new one comes out, thats the only way to have the latest.

This is how Apple and most other companies work. Your only going to have the latest for about a year then BAM!, a new one is out and your one is now outdated. Want to have the latest again? Buy it.. Apple is not going to put a camera into your iPod Touch 3G! if the 4G has one, Gosh…!!
