Any ideas or links on how to upgrade the firmware to 3.0 thanks

plz tell me how to make the update i’v download the 3 parts pllllllllllllllllz
pepsi_8850@hotmail.com
@brandon-no, they are parts, therefore they assemble together, like peices of a puzzle.
@underpants-unrar the 3 parts using winrar, connect ipod to computer, open itunes, go to your ipod, and while holding shift, click restore and choose the extracted update and restore with it
@ipttricks
Felixbruns for ipt2g gives iphone FW.
The direct links won’t work b/c they use js to assign your machine a uuid thats based on ur ip addrs. and check for it and ect ect.
The rapidshare links are the links to the final official release, not a beta version, right?
I’m asking even though it says “final” in teh name b/c there are some ppl that like to give version #s to their software/tutorial packages.
Is it possible to use this firmaware to update the ipodtouch, without restoring the whole system ? because I’d like to keep my music on it (it is not synchronized anywhere…)
thx !
downloaded the 3 rapidshare files, used winrar, restored, and now enjoying my 3.0 ipod touch =). thanks a bunch man your a lifesaver. or more like a ten dollar saver but hey it helps lol. and to everyone else thats having problems with this process, get rid of your computer and ipod =)
iv download so many firmware for my ipod 2g touch all coming the same result it starts ok but suddenly at the end ” the ipod “ipod” could not be restored. An error occurred (10)” ill be very thankful if any 1 could solve this issue 4 me.
thanx in advance .
Why do i need 3 parts when i only restore with part one??? hbuxmann1990@yahoo.com
hey, i’ve tried this like 5 times, each time downloading it again from a bunch of different places. every time it says something like the firmware file is not compatible. is this because i use leopard on a mac? does this only work on PCs?
I don’t know what to do after I download all three parts of the firmware. I tried to restore my ipod but all it said was firmware file is not compatible. Please help me I am begging you!!!
It seems to me that the most frequent issue is that people are unsure of how to properly reassemble the parted downloads into a single package that can be used by itunes to restore the ipod. being familiar with this process myself, i will try to make it clearer.
WHEN YOU EXTRACT THE THREE .RAR FILES, YOU HAVE TO EXTRACT THEM TO THE SAME LOCATION.
the reason for this is that although it seems to take only the ipsw file to get the ipod restored, itunes needs info from other files to verify that it’s using the right firmware. so make sure all the extracted files are in the same folder, with no subfolders separating them, and your restore using iTunes should go just fine.
If you are unfamiliar with the extraction process or do not have the right software to extract .rar archives, feel free to email me for help. timjlively@gmail.com
Hope this helps!
after i downloaded the firmware it said that the firmware file was not compatible when i try to restore it…..help plzzz!!!
so in my last post i said something about extracting archives to the same location…yadda yadda. guess what? turns out to be completely unnecessary! lol
there is only one ipsw file needed. here’s the shocker:
its not one of the three parted rar archives! idk if/how those really work, but i did find the right file. you need the direct download at the top of this page. should be a very quick download, as the file is only 1 kb. lol
two more things real quick: make sure you put that ipsw file into the redsnow folder (THE ONE WITHOUT A ZIPPER–CAUSE YOU SHOULD HAVE EXTRACTED IT AND INTALLED THE PROGRAM ALREADY!)
and make sure that you use the same file when you restore using itunes.
on a personal note:
im not really an apple guy, so idk what a lot of this stuff is for, to be honest, but i did figure out how to get it done, and those who understand the details often find it difficult to explain the basics without confusing the rest of us.
-my props to them anyway! lol
ps if anyone wants to explain how the files work (how the ipod actually gets jailbroken) to ME, i would be delighted to learn more!
thanks and good luck to all!

oops. one more lie.
the link i used was not the direct dl. that one doesnt work. sorry i forgot that. i used this post to find the file:

-@ATTNCK: thanks!
warning: its actually quite large, so if you dont have a good fast connection, do like i did and go to a computer that does, and take a flash drive with at least 256 free mb. the file is 231.2 mb
sorry for any confusion. it happens to the best of us. obviously. lol

iPod Touch 3 0 firmware update
This updates your iPod Touch to the latest 3.0 firmware.
This is the orriginal update from apple, so no jailbraik yet.
How to use:
Check if you have a first generation or second generation iPod
(see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPod_Touch for details)
Connect your Ipod, Open iTunes, hold SHIFT and press ‘Check for
Update’ or ‘Restore’ (depends on if you want to update or a
clean install). Select the appropriate firmware file. Update
takes about 15 minutes.
What if I fuck up?
If you manage to brick your iPod, for example by turning of your
machine during the update, you can always do a clean recovery by
folowing these steps:
1.Make sure iPod is completely powered off.
2.Hold the home button while its off.
3.While holding the Home button, connect the cable. The iPod should power on.
4.Keep holding the Home button.
5.The Connect to iTunes image should come up.
6. Congrats, you in recovery mode.
In I-tunes:
1.Click SHIFT+recover
2.Select the appropriate firmware file.
note: On a MAC, use option-click instead of shift-click

I have Ipod version 2.2.1.Then i jailbreak it.And now i have version 1.1 7D11.And i want to return my firmware 2.2.1.I doing this with ITunes but it says that Firmware could not be restore.
Hey !
Could you add download links from another file hoster?
Like Megashare ?
Because there are almost never any slots for free users..
Thanks
(Or, If I already have the OS 3.1.1 Firmwire, where can I find it ?)
Thanks,
Victor
whenever i’m trying to extract it at the same location, it says ‘corrupt file’. Plz show me step by step!!
i downloaded the software and when i went to restore it it said “ipod could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible.” how can i fix that?

Will this link work on a first generation (1G) iPod Touch that has 2.0 Firmware? If not, then where can I upgrade to 3.0 for this iPod?
