Jailbreaking iPod Touch and iPhone is illegal: Apple

Now after iPhone and iPod Touch are already insanely popular, Apple thinks it would be good idea to make Jailbreaking iPhones officially illegal, Apple has recently filed 27 page argument on why Jailbreaking is illegal. Apple is insisting that Jailbreaking is done via unauthorized mods to the copyrighted bootloader and OS, for example Pwnage tool results in a modified bootloader and OS to be installed in the iPhone which infringes Apple copyrights.

Would that be of any use?

Millions of iPhones and iPod Touches are already Jailbroken and thousands are being Jailbraked daily by users. Will they revert? No. They don’t even care what Apple thinks because they are deeply enjoying Jailbreaking goodness.

What if Apple has said that illegal thing just after releasing iPhone, I bet Apple wouldn’t even stand near to where they stand now in terms of market coverage.

Apple wants you to live with the interface and icons they have provided, you cannot change themes, you cannot install third party apps and if you Jailbreak, its illegal. Wow you are great Apple.

EFF is dealing with it, lets see what happens next.

So should I Jailbrake my iPod Touch/iPhone ?

Its not officially illegal until the final verdict comes out. So you can do whatever you want.

Without jailbreaking I dont think apple would of made as much money as they had now do they should just leave it.

You know, I believe the developers at Apple missed a great opportunity to make millions of dollars. They could have sold themes at the Application store for like a buck or half each! But since its already out there, I think they should just hold tight and deal with it, because since the Apple stock market is close to crashing, they should stick to what their customers enjoy.
Get your act together, Apple! Many people love you despite your cockiness!!

I think they could have made millions if they had accepted apps like gba for iphone and they could have also charged for themes but owell thats there loss.

instead of making a 9.95 useless update they should make a 10 dollar update that comes with a new native app where you can download and apply themes. Even better. charge like 50 cents each and accually make more money. I get the whole being able to download any app free thing to be illegal but jailbreaking should’t be if you just get themes or someting. Why does apple not want you to have your device the way you want it?

if they want people to stop jailbreaking give us features similar to jailbroken OS. like themes and backgrounds hiding the favorites bar etc. i don’t understand why apple didn’t put these on the iPhone/iPod touch from the begging. where is the fun in looking at a black background all the time I’m sure they don’t use plain black backgrounds on there computers or none apple cell phones. it would be nice to change the keyboard color or when in the settings menu or safari change the color from that blue to another color. these are the main reasons i would want to jailbreak my ipod.
