Useful Apps: Run your apps in background using Backgrounder
Backgrounder is one useful must have app that you should install on your iPod Touch, its a simple application that lets you run programs and applications in the background while you are using other apps. For eg. if you are having chat with your buddies using text messengers and you need to browse the web, you can use this Backgrounder app. By default all iPod Touch apps closes themselves upon hitting the back button( music is exception).
To install Backgrounder app you must have a jailbroken iPod Touch, then you can go to Cydia Sources and search for Backgrounder., tap install and then confirm.
How to run applications in the background of iPod Touch and iPhone
Say you are using Nimbuzz messenger( AIM, Yahoo, MSN etc)
Press and keep holding the Home/Back button until a alert pops up saying backgrounding had been enabled
Now release and continue with web browsing and play with any other app if you like
Now to close the Messenger app just start the app once again you will find yourself exactly where you left it. Now hold the Home/Back button once again, a pop up will confirm that Backgrounding Disabled
Note: If you keep holding the Home button the application will be quit forcibly( the default behavior)
You can also auto enable applications to use Backgrounder. Tap on the Backgrounder app, at the bottom there will Auto enabled applications under preferences. Now if you enable this for your chosen apps the application will automatically go into background and keep running when you press the home button instead of terminating itself.
